Heavy-Duty Spiral Log Washer for Tough Clay Removal

When dealing with extremely tough, plastic, and highly adhesive clays that standard wash plants can't handle, the Spiral Log Washer is the ultimate solution. This heavy-duty Clay Washing Equipment is specifically designed to scrub, scour, and break down the most stubborn mud and stains from low-grade minerals.

Widely utilized as an Iron Ore Washer and Manganese Ore Washing Machine, the twin-shaft log washer uses a severe cutting and abrading action. The interlocking paddles forcefully chop through cemented clay balls, freeing the valuable coarse ore and stones trapped inside.

Featuring a high processing capacity, easy installation, and low operating costs, our Log Washer Machine ensures that only clean, high-quality ore is sent to your downstream crushing or gravity separation circuits.

Why Choose Our Twin Shaft Log Washer?

  • Aggressive Scrubbing Action: The massive, corrugated steel paddles are arranged in a specific spiral pattern. As the twin shafts rotate in opposite directions, the paddles intermesh, creating a powerful "cutting and squeezing" action that disintegrates tough clay balls.
  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Built with a thick, robust steel trough and heavy-duty gearboxes to withstand the immense torque required to churn rocks and thick mud.
  • Replaceable Wear Parts: The scrubbing paddles are cast from highly abrasion-resistant alloy steel. They are bolted onto the shafts, making them easily replaceable in the field without cutting or welding.
  • High Washing Efficiency: The inclined trough design ensures that water flows downward (carrying away the dissolved clay as waste), while the clean, heavy rocks are pushed upward to the discharge port.

How a Spiral Log Washer Works

  1. Material Feed: Raw, clay-bound ore and water are fed into the lower end of the inclined washing trough.
  2. Severe Scrubbing: A heavy-duty motor and reducer drive two large spiral shafts equipped with paddles. These shafts rotate in opposite directions. The paddles cut into the clay, while rock-on-rock friction scours the ore clean.
  3. Counter-Current Washing: Clean water is often added near the discharge end. It flows down the trough, washing the final dirt off the rocks and carrying the suspended clay and light impurities backward.
  4. Discharge: The dirty water (tailings) overflows a weir at the lower rear end of the machine. The clean, scrubbed ore is conveyed upward by the spiral paddles and discharged at the top front end.

Typical Applications

Log washers are essential for upgrading ores that are heavily contaminated with plastic clays:

  • Manganese & Iron Ore: Removing sticky lateritic clay to upgrade the mineral content before smelting or secondary crushing.
  • Aggregate & Gravel: Cleaning dirty, clay-bound crushed stone to meet strict construction standards.
  • Phosphorus & Bauxite: Washing low-grade ores to improve downstream chemical processing efficiency.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Should I choose a Log Washer or a Rotary Scrubber?

A: It depends on the type of clay. If your ore is mixed with moderate to heavy, water-soluble clay, a Rotary Scrubber is usually sufficient. However, if your clay is extremely plastic, sticky, and cemented (like mud that sticks to your boots and won't wash off easily), you absolutely need the aggressive cutting action of a Log Washer.

Q2: What is the maximum feed size for this machine?

A: Depending on the model, the maximum feed size ranges from 30mm up to 70mm. Log washers are not meant for massive boulders; they are designed to scrub pre-sized or naturally smaller rocks and gravel.
