The Bucket Elevator Hoist is a fixed mechanical conveying system engineered for the continuous vertical lifting of bulk materials. In mineral processing plants where floor space is limited, a bucket elevator can lift crushed ore vertically up to 40 meters, taking up a fraction of the footprint required by a long, inclined belt conveyor.

How a Bucket Elevator Works

The continuous lifting process is simple, efficient, and fully enclosed.

  1. Inflow Feeding: Material flows into the bottom hopper (the boot) where the buckets automatically scoop it up as they round the bottom tail pulley.
  2. Vertical Lifting: A heavy-duty traction mechanism (either a rubber belt or steel chain) pulls the loaded buckets vertically up through a sealed steel casing.
  3. Discharge: As the buckets pass over the top drive pulley (the head), the material is thrown out into the receiving discharge chute via centrifugal force or gravity.

Traction Systems: Belt vs. Chain

We offer three distinct traction mechanisms depending on the abrasiveness and temperature of your material:

Rubber Adhesive Tape (Belt) ≤ 60°C (Standard) / ≤ 120°C (Heat-Resistant) Simple structure, fast running speed. Best for powders and low-abrasion materials. (Steel cord reinforced belts available for heavy loads up to 80°C).
Ring Chain ≤ 250°C Forged steel rings offer a simple, firm connection that is highly wear-resistant. Ideal for hot, highly abrasive ores.
Plate Chain ≤ 250°C Extremely strong structure with massive lifting capacity. Best for high-tonnage mining applications, though articulated joints require regular lubrication.

Discharge Methods & Core Advantages

Customized Unloading:

  • Centrifugal Discharge: Operates at a faster bucket speed. Best for fine powders and granular materials that easily fly out of the bucket.
  • Gravity Discharge: Operates at a slower speed. Best for heavy, fragile, or abrasive lumps (like clinker or raw ore) that need to slide out smoothly without smashing.
  • Mixed Discharge: A hybrid approach utilizing both centrifugal throw and gravity drop for damp or sticky materials.
