Ilmenite (FeTiO₃) is the primary commercial source of titanium dioxide (TiO₂). Because it possesses both a high specific gravity and weak magnetic properties, a "Gravity + Magnetic Separation" combined process is the absolute industry standard for achieving high commercial grades.
However, the processing strategy differs drastically depending on the ore source. Our Ilmenite Ore Dressing Solutions provide scientifically tailored flowsheets for both Alluvial (Sand) Ilmenite and Igneous (Hard Rock) Ilmenite. By optimizing equipment configurations for your specific deposit type, we ensure maximum TiO₂ recovery, stable operation, and highly efficient energy consumption.

We design your plant specifically around the geological characteristics of your titanium deposit.
Because sand deposits are naturally liberated, no crushing or grinding is required.

Hard rock requires an extensive comminution circuit to liberate the titanium crystals.

| Process Application | Main Equipment | Capacity / Specs | Functional Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alluvial (Washing) | Rotary Scrubber / Trommel | 50 - 300 t/h | Breaks up sticky clay and screens out oversized waste gravel. |
| Hard Rock (Crushing) | Jaw Crusher | 15 - 500 t/h | Primary rock breaking (Feed size ≤ 500mm). |
| Hard Rock (Milling) | Ball Mill | Custom Sized | Grinds ore down to -0.3mm for full mineral liberation. |
| Gravity Recovery (All Types) | Spiral Chute | 2 - 4 t/h (per unit) | High-capacity enrichment. Instantly discards light silica sand. |
| Magnetic Purification (All Types) | Multi-Roller Magnetic Separator | 10 - 50 t/h | Adjustable field strength (0.8 - 1.5T) to perfectly extract ilmenite. |

A: Ilmenite sand is rarely pure; it is almost always mixed with Magnetite (highly magnetic) and other heavy minerals like Zircon or Rutile (non-magnetic). A multi-gradient separator uses a weak magnetic roller first to pull out the trash magnetite. Then, a highly powerful roller (0.8 - 1.5 Tesla) pulls out the weakly magnetic ilmenite, leaving the non-magnetic zircon/rutile behind. A single-strength magnet cannot perform this complex separation.
A: Cost efficiency. By using low-energy Spiral Chutes to discard up to 70% of the barren waste sand immediately (gravity pre-enrichment), we drastically reduce the volume of material that needs to be processed by the more expensive magnetic separators. This "smart scaling" saves massive amounts of electricity and equipment capital.

Whether you are processing coastal placer sands, inland alluvial deposits, or hard rock igneous ilmenite, GravityMineral provides end-to-end Turnkey EPC Solutions. We offer comprehensive ore testing, custom flowsheet design, equipment manufacturing, and on-site commissioning.
