Pendulum Feeder for Ball Mills and Conveyors

The Pendulum Feeder is a classic, highly reliable mechanical feeding device designed to be installed directly underneath fine ore bins and hoppers. Its primary job is to extract granular and small-lump materials from the storage silo and discharge them evenly and continuously onto a belt conveyor or directly into a Ball Mill.

Characterized by its simple mechanical structure, economical price, and incredibly low energy consumption, the Swinging Feeder is widely used in pilot plants and small-to-medium-sized mineral processing facilities. It is the perfect choice for metallurgy, coal mining, building materials, and chemical industries where steady, metered batch feeding is required.

Because it does not rely on vibration, it operates quietly and smoothly, making it a highly cost-effective solution for handling dry, free-flowing granular materials.

Core Product Features

  • Stable & Reliable Operation: The physical swinging motion provides a consistent, forced discharge of material, ensuring the receiving equipment (like a grinding mill) is never starved of ore.
  • Convenient Flow Adjustment: The feed rate can be easily adjusted by altering the stroke length of the eccentric crank or by adjusting the discharge gate on the hopper, allowing operators to change the flow rate at any time.
  • High Efficiency & Energy Saving: Utilizing a low-power motor paired with a reduction gearbox, the machine consumes a fraction of the electricity required by heavy vibrating feeders while generating much less noise.
  • Structural Optimization: Boasts a compact, lightweight footprint. Its simple mechanical design means routine maintenance requires only basic tools and standard lubrication, resulting in zero specialized training for your staff.
  • Environmental Protection: Can be easily enclosed at the discharge point to prevent dust spillage, protecting the plant environment and meeting strict pollution control standards.

How a Pendulum Feeder Works

The operation of this equipment is purely mechanical and highly dependable:

  1. The electric motor drives a worm gear reducer to decrease speed while massively increasing torque.
  2. This slow-turning output shaft is attached to an eccentric wheel and a connecting crank-arm.
  3. The crank-arm pushes and pulls the curved bottom plate (the "pendulum") situated directly beneath the silo opening.
  4. As the pendulum swings backward, a measured amount of ore drops from the silo. As it swings forward, it pushes that ore smoothly off the lip and into the receiving chute or conveyor belt.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What materials are NOT suitable for a Pendulum Feeder?

A: Pendulum feeders are designed for dry, granular, and small-lump materials. They are not recommended for highly viscous, wet, or sticky clay-like ores, nor are they ideal for ultra-fine dry powders (which will flow out like water). If you have sticky ore, we recommend our Apron / Reciprocating Chute Feeder.

Q2: Where is this feeder typically placed in the plant?

A: You will almost always find it bolted to the bottom discharge port of a "Fine Ore Bin." It acts as the final metering valve, taking the crushed rocks from the bin and dropping them onto the conveyor belt that directly feeds the Ball Mill for grinding.
