Seabed placer tin (submarine cassiterite) is an increasingly vital marine mineral resource, characterized by stable grades, immense volumes, and low excavation costs. However, processing sand at sea presents unique engineering challenges, primarily regarding spatial limitations on mining barges and the corrosive marine environment.
GravityMineral has pioneered a highly efficient "Offshore Pre-Treatment + Onshore Concentration" processing model specifically for submarine environments. By utilizing a high-capacity sand extraction, screening, and jigging system directly on the dredging vessel (300-1500 tons/hour), we discard 99% of the barren sand immediately back into the ocean. The resulting rough concentrate is then transferred to a land-based shaking table facility for final purification. This turnkey solution is the industry standard for large-scale seabed placer tin operations.

Our split-phase engineering design minimizes the size of the required offshore dredging vessel while maximizing the purity of the final commercial tin concentrate.
Executed directly on the marine dredging vessel to instantly discard barren sand.
Executed onshore to achieve the final, high-grade metallurgical product.

| Operating Zone | Main Equipment | Technical Characteristics | Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Offshore | High-Power Sand Pump | Anti-corrosive design equipped with a heavy debris-removal grill. | 300 - 1500 t/h |
| Offshore | Marine Trommel Screen | Double-deck structure, fully treated for saltwater corrosion. | Matches Pump |
| Offshore | Circular Jigger | Recovers coarse-grained (5-10mm) cassiterite instantly. | Vessel Dependent |
| Offshore | Sawtooth Wave Jigger | Highly efficient recovery of fine-grained (0.5-5mm) cassiterite. | Vessel Dependent |
| Onshore | Shaking Table System | Multiple units in parallel for final high-grade purification (Sn ≥ 60%). | Parallel Configuration |
| Onshore | Filter Press (Optional) | Tailings dewatering to prevent coastal water contamination. | Supporting Design |
A: Deck space on a marine dredging vessel is incredibly expensive and limited. Shaking tables (which are required for final purification) take up massive amounts of floor space and are sensitive to the rocking motion of the ocean. By using Jigs on the ship (which are compact and highly resistant to wave motion) to discard 99% of the barren sand back into the sea, we only have to transport a small volume of heavy concentrate back to the stable, land-based shaking tables.
A: Standard mining equipment will rust and fail rapidly when exposed to seawater and ocean spray. All of our offshore equipment—including the sand pumps, trommel screens, and jigs—is specifically engineered with heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings, marine-grade alloys, and fiberglass components to ensure long-term durability in extreme submarine environments.
This split-phase program successfully combines the mature experience of traditional tin gravity beneficiation with the harsh engineering realities of seabed mining. It has been successfully deployed in multiple offshore placer tin projects across Southeast Asia.
