Solution Overview

The ilmenite-zircon ore is a valuable resource rich in ilmenite, rutile, zircon and other valuable heavy minerals, and GravityMineral has developed a combined process solution of "gravity roughing enrichment - magnetic separation of ilmenite and zirconium - electrostatic fine purification" based on its deep technical accumulation in the field of gravity beneficiation, magnetic separation and electrostatic separation. This titanium and zirconium ore beneficiation program can efficiently recover titanium, zirconium and other valuable minerals through multi-stage physical beneficiation, and ultimately obtain high-quality titanium concentrate (TiO₂ ≥ 48%) and zircon sand concentrate (ZrO₂ ≥ 65%), which has the outstanding advantages of high recovery rate, no chemical pollution, and significant economic benefits.

Complete process flow

1. Pretreatment and wet roughing system

Pretreatment section:

  • Raw ore is fed evenly through the silo to the trommel screen (with a hole of 3-6mm), separating impurities and coarse gravel.

  • High-pressure water gun rinsing to remove clay and surface pollutants thoroughly.

Gravity enrichment section:

  • Spiral chute roughing (feed concentration 30-35%), initial enrichment of heavy minerals

  • Shaking table selection to further increase the grade of heavy minerals and create the best conditions for the selection of heavy minerals mixed sand.

2. Magnetic separation system

  • Medium-strength magnetic separation: permanent magnetic cylinder magnetic separator is used to separate ilmenite (strong magnetic minerals).

  • Strong magnetic separation: using high intensity magnetic separator to separate monazite, garnet and other neutral magnetic minerals.

  • Non-magnetic minerals: zircon, rutile, etc. into the electrostatic separation system

3. Dry Concentration System

Pre-treatment section:

  • Buffer storage in silo to ensure continuous and stable feeding.

  • Rotary dryer (temperature 80-120 ℃) to control the moisture, to create the best conditions for electrostatic separation

Electrostatic purification section:

  • High-voltage electrostatic separator separates conductive minerals (rutile, ilmenite) from non-conductive minerals (zircon).

  • Multi-stage electrostatic separation ensures the purity of the product and improves the concentrate grade.

Final Concentration Section:

  • Further purification of the titanium concentrate by re-magnetic separation

  • Electrostatic separation of zircon sand to remove trace impurities
