Crushing and pre-enrichment stage
Purpose: Crush the raw ore to a size range suitable for gravity separation (usually-30mm), and discard some of the waste rock in advance to reduce the amount of grinding and save energy.
Process: Raw ore is roughly crushed and medium crushed by jaw crusher and cone crusher. After crushing, the product can enter jigger or heavy media cyclone for pre-sorting, which can produce some coarse-grained rich blocks and discard a large number of low-grade tailings in advance.
Grinding and Classifying Stage
Purpose: To dissociate wolframite and chalcopyrite monomers, and to provide feed material with uniform particle size for subsequent gravity separation through classification.
Flow: The pre-enriched product enters rod mill or ball mill for stage grinding. Ground product and spiral classifier or hydrocyclone form a closed circuit to control the classification overflow size, to ensure adequate dissociation while avoiding over-grinding.
Gravity Roughing Stage
Purpose: This is the core part of recovering wolframite, utilizing jigger and shaking table to throw tail on a large scale to obtain rough concentrate (gross sand).
Process:
Jigging sorting: The graded material is fed into different types of jigger (e.g. trapezoidal jigger, downward moving jigger) according to the grain level (e.g. +2mm, 2-0.5mm). Jigger has large processing capacity, can efficiently recover medium and fine-grained wolframite, and produce high-grade heavy products (gross sand).
Shaking table sorting: Jigging tailings and finer-grained materials (e.g. -0.5mm) enter the shaking table for sorting. The shaking table has high sorting precision and can further recover fine-grained wolframite and produce gross sand. The middle ore of shaking table returns to regrinding and re-selection, forming a closed loop.
Selection and Separation Stage
Purpose: To purify the gross sand of gravity separation, separate qualified wolframite concentrate and comprehensively recover other valuable minerals.
Process:
Desulfurization operation: The rough concentrate usually contains sulfide minerals such as pyrite and poisonous sand. The flotation machine is used to carry out tungsten flotation and sulfur suppression to get the sulfur concentrate, and at the same time eliminate the influence of sulfur on the subsequent operations.
Combined Concentration: The product after desulfurization selects the combined process according to the mineral composition.
Table flotation (combined flotation shaking table): traditional and efficient method for separating wolframite from cassiterite and scheelite.
Magnetic Separation: Separate wolframite from cassiterite and scheelite (non-magnetic) by utilizing the weak magnetism of wolframite, commonly used strong magnetic separator.
Electrostatic separation: Used for the purification of the final concentrate, separating the residual cassiterite and other non-conductive minerals.
Finally get the national standard first-grade wolframite concentrate (WO₃ ≥ 65%).
Fine mud treatment stage
Purpose: Specialized in the treatment of -0.074mm fine-grained slime produced in the process of grinding and classification, recovering the fine-grained wolframite therein, which is the key to improve the total recovery rate.
Flow: Fine sludge is first concentrated and deslimed, followed by roughing by centrifugal concentrator, belt chute and other high-efficiency gravity separation equipment, and the enriched products are then selected and recovered by flotation (such as benzohydroxamic acid flotation) or high-gradient strong magnetic separator.
